No dia 2 de maio de 2016, os Seminários Novos e Velhos Saberes apresentam a palestra do Dr. Larry Noblick (Montgomery Botanical Center, Florida, EUA), intitulada “Sua terra tem palmeiras!!!”, na sala 17, 1º andar do Instituto de Biologia da Ufba, às 13h30.
Dr. Noblick é um especialista em palmeiras, tendo identificado muitas novas espécies dentro dessa família, e trabalhado no Brasil por algum tempo. Ele está em uma visita à Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana e disponibilizou-se a fazer esta palestra na Ufba. Veja abaixo um resumo de seu currículo.
Currículo
Dr. Larry Noblick has worked at Montgomery Botanical Center since 1994. He formerly worked as their Collections Manager/Palm Specialist and is now their dedicated Palm Biologist. He is a botanical explorer who has broughtseveral new palm species back to Montgomery.Larry has worked on plant or floristic surveys, collections management, herbarium curation, and general research projects.
Larry’s academic activity has been in plant taxonomy and systematics and plant conservation focused on
palms from South America, especially those related to the coconut palm.
